    Swimming 101

Swimming can be an confusing sport to understand. It's different than all land sports because the conditioning is important and different - you can't stop in the middle of a race to catch a breath!

Swim meets can also be frustrating and difficult to understand.  The below information is intended to help parents decipher what is happening on the deck during a swim meet and how to prepare your swimmer.

Please review the events, how to read a heat sheet and how to tattoo your swimmer for meets! It will make them much more enjoyable and easier for you and your kiddos!!

A Change to the Order of Events

The NMSL has changed the order of events for the 2024 swim season.

So that our 6 and under swimmers can finish earlier in the evening during meets we have moved EVENT 35 - the 100 Mixed Freestyle relay for 6 and under to EVENT 0.

We will begin all the meets with this event for the season.

This way, the last 6 and under event will be EVENT 24 - Girls 6 and under backstroke.
